About Devan
Home is a 2013 Chevy Express van named Zō. It's the happiest home I've ever owned. :-)
Throughout my adult life, with few exceptions, I found myself moving every 12-18 months. I was forever on a quest to find where I belonged, hoping it would ease the restlessness that never seemed to subside.
A series of serendipitous events, originating in December 2014, would completely change my perspective on how I wanted to live.
Following two and a half years of planning and preparation, I moved into my van in June 2017 and began to 'ramble'.
~**For those who know me best, ramble is an apt description. In all the ways noted in the above image.**~
This isn't your typical "Instagram #VanLife"
You won't see gratuitous selfies, image after image of remote camping, or details of exotic locations. I am still working full-time (albeit remotely), so I am most often found dwelling in various urban areas. Not quite as glamorous, but neither am I.
In addition to my 9-5 job, I am working to attract more clients through my freelance writing and virtual assistant work. I'm hopeful this will buy me more freedom over time.
Until that beloved freedom materializes, what you'll see here is a realistic account of how a middle-aged woman navigates urban van life while working full-time. That typically consists of 80% city and 20% nature - for now.
Take some time to explore the blog, read something interesting, or just browse the pictures. :-) You are welcome here in any capacity you like. I hope you'll hang out with me for a while.
